United States of America (US) denies providing specific intelligence to Ukraine related to the destruction of the Russian warship Moksva.
It is known, an image of the burning warship Moskva circulating on social media on Monday (18/4).
For the attack, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby denied it provided Ukraine with “specific” intelligence that led to the country sinking Moscow.
“We did not provide Ukraine with specific targeting information for Moscow,” Kirby said in a statement Thursday CNN.
He said his party was not involved in Ukraine’s decision to attack the ship or in any operations that it carried out. “We have no prior knowledge of Ukraine’s intention to target the ship,” Kirby said.
Ukraine claims to have attacked the Moskva with two Neptune anti-ship missiles which sank the ship and was taken to port for repairs.
Kirby says Ukraine has intelligence of their own.
Furthermore, Kirby added that his party did not know about the Ukrainian attack plan on the Moskva until they carried out the operation.
“[Kami] does not provide intelligence about the location of senior military leaders on the battlefield or participate in decisions on targeting the Ukrainian military,” Kirby said.
In addition to sending weapons and missiles to help Ukraine drive out Russia, the US is also increasing intelligence exchange with the country.
