Unitree Releases Affordable Humanoid Robot, Priced Starting at IDR 200 Million

For years, Unitree has offered robots that perform similarly to models from companies like Boston Dynamics but at a much lower price.

One example is the Unitree Go2, a robot equivalent to Boston Dynamics Spot, which starts at $1,600. That’s cheaper than Spot’s $74,500 price tag.

Continuing the tradition, Unitree is back with an affordable humanoid robot called the G1. While details about its full capabilities are limited, the specs and demos revealed so far are impressive for its $16,000 price tag.

At 4 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 80 pounds, G1 is compact yet powerful. It can walk at 4.5 mph, jump, climb stairs, and even perform full-body spins and calisthenics with ease, thanks to its 23 degrees of freedom in its joints.

In the promo video, G1 is able to maintain his balance like a pro, even when pushed or kicked. Another video shows him standing up from a lying position on the floor without using his arms.

The G1’s combination of sensors allows it to respond to voice commands and navigate your home automatically. Plus, higher-end models come with articulated hands that can hold and manipulate objects, and even perform complex tasks like soldering electronics.

Underneath its synthetic skin, the G1 packs impressive hardware. The LED-encircled face houses a lidar camera and a 3D depth camera for vision, along with a microphone array for voice control.

The G1 also features a 9,000mAh battery, which can be used for up to two hours. With 88 lb-ft of torque, the connection offers as much power as a small car. rmol news logo article
