Ukraine will counterattack to Russia between the end of May and next June, as Moscow will attack it all out before Victory Day 9 May.
Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovich said the acceleration in the pace of the war was due to Russia’s call for an attack on May 9. The day is known as a moment to commemorate the victory of the Soviet Union over Germany in World War II.
“The decisive battle, [atas wilayah Donbas di Ukraina timur diperkirakan akan segera dimulai],” Arestovich told Nikkei AsiaSunday (1/5).
Arestovich is the person in charge of security and military affairs in the presidential office.
Ukraine, he continued, could form an attack unit as tanks, long-range artillery and other weapons began to arrive in the eastern European country. The system’s main equipment (Alutsista) came from the United States and Europe in mid-May.
However. Russia may mobilize more troops to add momentum to be able to press for an invasion ahead of the May 9 celebrations.
The Ukrainian military has so far continued to fight fiercely since the Russian invasion on February 24. If Ukraine did attack, it would mark a major turning point in the conflict.
Arestovich then insisted Ukraine could win the war. Meanwhile, experts say the end of the conflict is unpredictable, as an all-out Russian offensive in the Donbas region and elsewhere is expected.
Britain even suspects the war will last until the end of 2023 and the possibility of Russia winning the battle.
However, the United States believes the war will be won by Ukraine if they have the right weapons.
