Intelligence English reveal that Russia aiming for a big win in Ukraine ahead of their Victory Day celebration which falls on 9 May.
“Russia appears to be looking to show significant success ahead of their annual Victory Day celebrations on 9 May,” British intelligence said on Twitter Thursday (21/4).
They also predict that Russia will launch a large-scale attack at various points in Ukraine by May 9.
“Russian troops are now moving from the main area in Donbas towards Kramatorsk, which is still suffering from continuous rocket fire,” British intelligence said.
Based on British intelligence monitoring, the maneuvers of the Russian air forces are still continuing in support of their ground forces who are trying to seize eastern Ukraine.
From the sky, Russia is trying to suppress and destroy the power of the Ukrainian air force which is also protecting its national troops from the onslaught of the Land of the Red Bear.
Until now, it was not clear what “significant success” meant by British intelligence. But lately, Russia is indeed strengthening their attacks in eastern Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the invasion on February 24, the eastern region has indeed become one of the hot spots of fighting.
A number of areas in eastern Ukraine are now controlled by pro-Russian separatist groups, specifically in Luhansk and Donetsk in the Donbas region.
In the south, there is also the Crimea region which was annexed by Russia in 2014. Between the Donbas and the Crimea lies the Mariupol region. Now, Russia is intensifying attacks in Mariupol.
Ukraine suspects that Russia wants to split their country into two parts, like North and South Korea.
