Yumi’s Cells season 2 will be showing in the near future. The broadcast schedule was announced in the release of the first poster of Yumi’s Cells 2 on Tuesday (26/4).
“The news everyone has been waiting for! The story of both Yumi and her cells,” wrote the official TVING account via Twitter, Tuesday (26/4).
The poster teaser features Kim Go-eun as Yumi who looks more mature, but still with her signature bangs. The difference in appearance can be seen from Yumi’s longer hair.
In addition, the poster also features animated cell characters who are sure to return with their unique personalities. The poster is then decorated with a number of notepads on an entirely pink background.
Yumi’s Cells season 2 will continue the story of the previous season, following the daily life of Yumi (Kim Go-eun) and her colorful love story.
This Korean drama will also re-combine live-action with animation. All of Yumi’s daily activities and decisions are depicted through the actions of the cells in the village that are located in Yumi’s mind.
From the beginning, Yumi’s Cells, which is the result of an adaptation of a webtun with the same title, was planned to have several seasons. That’s because the original Yumi’s Cells webtun has more than 500 chapters.
Director Lee Sang-yeob said that every season of Yumi’s Cells will feature new problems and elements of Kim Yu-mi.
Meanwhile, writer Song Jae-jung previously also said that the story of Yumi’s Cells Season 2 will be more dynamic than the first season. He likens the next second season will be like a lighter version of Sex and the City.
“I’m referring to Sex and the City, where the protagonist is the same but the girlfriend changes. There is almost no composition like this in most previous dramas,” said Song Jae-jung as reported by My Daily via Nate some time ago.
“So I think it’s like a light version of Sex and the City,” he said.
Yumi’s Cells Season 2 is slated to premiere in June 2022.
