As many as one or two people are suspected of being the perpetrators of the terror attack in Elad, Israel on Thursday (5/5), right on Israel’s Independence Day.
Israeli troops began to hunt down the perpetrators of the attack that killed three people.
Troops were deployed with the support of helicopters, drones and roadblocks to find the perpetrators, which police described as “one or two terrorists”. There are no specific characteristics that describe the perpetrator.
Secretary of Defense Benny Gantz announced measures to stop perpetrators from escaping and traveling to the occupied West Bank. This comment also refers to the possibility that the perpetrators came from Palestine.
The closure of the West Bank, initially only on Israel’s Independence Day, will remain in effect until Sunday (8/5).
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called for the arrest of the alleged terrorists in yesterday’s attack.
“We will catch the terrorists and make sure they pay the price,” Bennett said in a statement.
The previous attack occurred when residents celebrated Israel’s Independence Day on Thursday (5/5). Police said one person fired a gun, while another attacked residents with an ax and knife.
Magen David Adom’s emergency response services confirmed three people were killed and four others injured. Following this incident Mayor Elad asked his citizens to stay at home while the security forces were operating.
Since March 22, 2022, there have been a series of attacks that have killed 15 people. The dead included an Arab-Israeli police officer and two Ukrainians who died in separate attacks.
Two of the attacks were carried out by Palestinians and occurred in the Tel Aviv area.
Responding to the incident, Israel has been aggressively making arrests in Palestinian towns and villages, often triggering clashes.
