Indonesian President-elect visits Vietnam on September 13 and 14
Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Vietnam took place at the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam.
Mr. Prabowo, 72 years old, was elected president of Indonesia in March and will be officially sworn in next October.
He visited Vietnam in May 2022 as Indonesian Defense Minister.
Vietnam and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1955 and upgraded them to a strategic partnership in 2013.
Mr. Prabowo’s visit took place in the context of the Vietnam – Indonesia strategic partnership continuously developing strongly and deeply in all fields, in which economic cooperation is a bright spot.
Within ASEAN, Indonesia is currently Vietnam’s third largest trading partner and Vietnam is Indonesia’s fourth largest trading partner. Trade turnover has increased nearly three times after 10 years of establishing the Strategic Partnership framework.
Two-way trade turnover is estimated to reach about 12.6 billion USD by November 2023.
