Character Deadpool alias Wade Wilson was considered by the scriptwriter to appear as a cameo in Doctor Strange 2.
“Yeah, we’ve considered it before,” Doctor Strange 2 scriptwriter Michael Waldron told ComicBookThursday (12/5).
“I think we talked about a lot of things in the film. It would be crazy if we didn’t get to discuss it, but it feels like it didn’t come at the right time. But of course, we did discuss it,” he concluded.
Instead of Deadpool, Doctor Strange 2 presents several surprise characters who are members of the Illuminati, a secret group that contains a number of Marvel superheroes.
The members of the Illuminati are Mister Fantastic (John Krasinski), Prof. X (Patrick Stewart), Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), and Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor).
Before Doctor Strange 2 premiered, the character Deadpool was one of the most favorite characters by fans to appear in the Doctor Strange sequel.
Rumors circulated after the latest poster of Doctor Strange 2 was released earlier this year. Many fans are convinced after seeing Deadpool’s snippet in the poster.
However, fans’ beliefs were immediately broken by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds. A few months before the premiere, he made it clear that he would not be involved in Doctor Strange 2.
“I’m not going to be in the movie,” Reynolds told Variety on February 16. “I’m serious, I’m not in the film,” he insisted.
At that time, Reynolds only said he would return in Deadpool 3 although he had not revealed further details about the film.
Deadpool 3 is directed by Shawn Levy with screenwriters Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux=Loeglin.
In addition, the scriptwriters for the two early Deadpool sequels, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are also reported to be contributing to Deadpool 3.
Since the beginning of its appearance, Deadpool has been played by Ryan Reynolds who also acts as a producer.
