Amanda Seyfried was often disgusted by the male audience asking him about the weather report. The question refers to one of the scenes in the film he played, Mean Girls.
Seyfried got a lot of these questions when he was 18 years old, precisely after Mean Girls was released in 2004.
“I always felt so disgusted by it, I was only 18 years old. It was so disgusting,” he told Marie Claire magazine, quoted from Variety which was released on Tuesday (10/5) United States time.
“I thought to be very famous [saat muda] must be really annoying. It must make you feel really insecure in the world,” Seyfried continued.
The scene in question is when Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried) reports the weather in a wet state due to rain. She believes in predicting the weather when she holds her breasts.
This, said Seyfried, has often been brought up by male audiences since Mean Girls aired. They are said to have come to Seyfried and asked about the weather report, referring to the scene.
The actress who is now 36 years old then discussed the difficulty of bearing the burden as a young actor. He also revealed the various things that must be endured by young actors today in order to survive in Hollywood.
“I see young actors who think they have to have a security team. They think they have to have assistants,” Seyfried said.
“They think their whole world has changed. It can be stressful. I’ve seen that happen to my friends.”
Seyfried also told Variety about the importance of not getting caught up in the success of Mean Girls. After the film catapulted his name, the offer he got was only focused on “beautiful blondes” like Karen Smith.
It then prompted Seyfried to star in the series Big Love. She chose the role in the series because her character was far from being Karen Smith.
“Early in my career, if I didn’t play in Big Love, I would be Karen Smith,” Seyfried said.
“All the auditions I did at the time were just, like, the blonde girl friend. I wasn’t going to be in the lead role, because for whatever reason I wouldn’t fit in,” he continued.
Most recently, Amanda Seyfried starred in the Dropout series (2022) which was based on a true story. She plays Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of a technology company whose ambition is to change the healthcare industry.
Seyfried’s appearance in the series reaped a positive response and was predicted to be a candidate for an Emmy Award nomination.
