AI Increasingly Popular, ChatGPT Weekly Active Users Exceed 200 Million
In a statement on Thursday (8/28), its parent company, OpenAI, said that 92 percent of Fortune 500 companies use its products and that usage of its automated APIs has doubled since the launch of GPT-4o mini last July.
“People now use our devices as part of their everyday lives, making a real difference in areas like healthcare and education — whether it’s helping with routine tasks, solving tough problems, or sparking creativity,” CEO Sam Altman said in a statement, as quoted by AxiosSaturday (31/8).
ChatGPT has fueled the popularity of AI and fueled a sharp rise in the valuation of San Francisco-based OpenAI.
Separately, AI startups OpenAI and Anthropic signed agreements with the US government for research, testing and evaluation of their artificial intelligence models, the US Artificial Intelligence Security Institute said earlier today.
Since ChatGPT’s launch in late 2022, Google, Microsoft, and Meta have also launched their own AI chat interfaces, but OpenAI’s user base continues to grow.
