rapper A$AP Rocky released from prison after paying bail of US$550 thousand or equivalent to Rp7.8 billion (US$1=Rp14,340).
ET reported on Wednesday (20/4), the Los Angeles Police (LAPD) confirmed this. Rocky was previously arrested by the LAPD as soon as he arrived after a vacation from Barbados with Rihanna.
“Yes, it has been released,” said LAPD Public Information officer Lee.
The rapper named Rakim Mayers was released on Wednesday (20/4) at 15:27 Los Angeles time, after being languishing in the Metropolitan Detention Center.
Rocky was previously arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday (20/4) at 8.20 am local time. The arrests were related to an assault with a firearm by A$AP Rocky in November 2021.
ET reported on Wednesday (20/4), the police said that on November 6, 2021, at 22:15 local time, there had been a dispute between the two parties in the Hollywood area.
“The argument got hotter and resulted in the suspect [A$AP Rocky] fired a gun at the victim. The victim suffered minor injuries and later sought medical treatment,” police said.
“After the shooting, the suspect and two other men fled the area on foot.
The LA District Attorney’s Office told ET that Rocky’s case has been filed and is under review. ET said it contacted Rocky’s attorney for comment.
This is not the first legal case that A$AP Rocky has faced. In the summer of 2019, he and two of his friends were arrested in Sweden at a rowdy age with two unidentified men the previous month.
Rocky was later released after languishing in a Swedish prison for a month in August 2019 and returned to the United States.
That same month, the rapper was found guilty but not sentenced to prison.
