If KKN in Penari Village continues to grow, this film has the opportunity to beat the achievement of the highest-grossing film 2020, Milea: Suara dari Dilan, which pocketed 3,157,817, according to data from filmindonesia.or.id.
KKN in Penari Village tells the story of a group of students who carry out Real Work Lectures (KKN) in the East Java region. They are Nur (Tissa Biani), Widya (Adinda Thomas), Ayu (Aghniny Haque), Bima (Achmad Megantara), Anton (Calvin Jeremy), and Wahyu (Fajar Nugraha).
The six students live in a remote village led by Pak Prabu (Kiki Narendra). Since their arrival, Pak Prabu advised to avoid a number of taboos while living in the village.
However, the village’s magical inhabitants don’t seem to like their presence. A series of mystical things began to terrorize each KKN student.
Until one day, Nur finally discovered the fact that one of them violated the most fatal rule in the village. This made the mysterious dancer angry.
This film is based on a mystical story entitled KKN Stories in the Dancing Village which went viral on Twitter in 2019. The story was first uploaded on Twitter by the account @SimpleM81378523 aka SimpleMan. The thread went viral and got a wide response from the public, until it was finally adapted into a film.
KKN in Penari Village has been airing since April 30 in cinemas.
