Ministry of Internal Affairs Singapore mention a number of reasons for refusing to come Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) in the country.
Previously, UAS was refused entry to Singapore by local immigration on Tuesday (18/5).
Here are four reasons Singapore rejected Abdul Somad’s presence, quoted from: official site Ministry of Home Affairs Singapore:
1. Considered Spreading Extremist Teachings and Segregation
UAS is considered to be spreading extremist teachings and segregation.
“Somad is known to spread extremist teachings and segregation, which is unacceptable in Singapore’s multi-racial and multi-religious society,” the Ministry of Home Affairs official website said.
2. Ever Lectured on a Kill Bomb
In his statement, Singapore also criticized UAS’s statement that he had discussed the suicide bombing in his lectures.
“For example, Somad has preached that suicide bombings are legal in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and are considered a ‘martyrdom’ operation.”
3. Ever Called the Christian Cross the House of the Gentiles of the Gentiles
The Singapore government also said that Somad had made comments that demeaned other religions such as Christianity. Somad is said to have called the cross the abode of pagan spirits.
“He (UAS) once made derogatory comments about other religions such as Christianity by describing that the Christian cross is the abode of the infidel jinn (evil spirits).
4. Disbelieve in the Teachings of Other Religions
Singapore also rejected UAS because he had made statements about infidelity to other religions in his lectures.
“In addition, Somad openly referred to non-Muslims as infidels,” citing the official website of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore.
“The Singapore government takes seriously anyone advocating violence and/or supporting extremist teachings and segregation. Somad and his travel companions are denied entry to Singapore,” the Ministry of Home Affairs official website quoted Singapore as saying.
